The veneer had damages, however the self-importance was in tack. I knew I’d first take away the veneer.

I attempted utilizing warmth to launch the veneer, however discovered the best strategy to get it off was choosing and peeling utilizing straight edge razor and numerous putty knives. Not probably the most enjoyable half for positive. Some peeled in strips, some areas I needed to decide tiny items at a time. I’m positive somebody has a higher technique, however this labored for me.
Most veneer off.

Getting all the way down to the naked bones.
After eradicating all veneer, I sanded. Getting down in all of the cracks and crevasses took persistence. I sanded it much more after this to get the wooden as recent trying as potential. My finest advise right here is sand, sand, and sand some extra. If you suppose you sanded sufficient, go sand it extra.

Stain!
I rigorously stained the piece. I used a grain defining stain. Due to the variation of kinds of wooden it gave a variation in shade I used to be proud of. I did all the identical steps with the topper that holds the mirror.
Discovered this stamped on the mirrors!
The stamp says “Galax Va.”, can’t learn the center, and 1942. Which I’m assuming dates the piece to 1942.
I used 4 coats of premium satin end polyurethane. And used a little Brasso to wash the handles.

Completed!
I’m so delighted with the result! Over 100 hours of blood, sweat, and tears.
